Recently, Tim Cook has been spotted wearing what seemed to be an actual glucose tracker that incorporates easily with Apple Watch, reports CNBC. This follows reports of Apple supposedly hiring a team of bioengineers who were intended to start working on developing a device that helps people monitor their blood sugar levels.

“It’s mentally anguishing to stick yourself many times a day to check your blood sugar,” Cook said, according to CNBC. “There is lots of hope out there that if someone has constant knowledge of what they’re eating, they can instantly know what causes the response… and that they can adjust well before they become diabetic.”

This is especially important considering that more than 29 million Americans suffer from diabetes. Currently, they can only test themselves using a needle.

Tim Cook has spoken out about the possibility to monitor both blood sugar levels and other important vital signs. The ordeal was said to be one of Apple’s hardest hurdles so far, at least according to the biomedical engineer John Smith. Hopefully, they can succeed in what they set out to achieve.
